Chop Your Tree Water Sources

Water sources are the machines on your Chop Your Tree plot that automate watering. Manual cans teach the loop; machines scale it. Every coin you earn eventually flows back into this shop category until Nuclear Fountain and Plasma tiers transform idle throughput. This page explains each major water source type, placement rules, and where it fits your prestige timeline.

Why water sources matter

Growth speed caps chop frequency. More water per minute means fuller trees, more mutation rolls, and faster savings for prestige costs. Water machines also power offline progression when you log out with automation running.

Auto Taps

Role: First automation purchase.

Behavior: Single-target passive drips onto the tree or nearby soil. Low cost, low footprint, mandatory first buy.

When to stop: After one or two taps unless you cannot afford Sprinklers yet. Duplicates become inefficient quickly per tier list.

Sprinklers

Role: Area coverage for early mid game.

Behavior: Sprays water across a radius covering multiple tree segments or adjacent tiles depending on plot layout.

Tips: Buy two to four before jumping to Waterfalls. Pair with group totem for coin multiplier on faster cycles.

Waterfalls

Role: First major throughput spike.

Behavior: High-volume stream — usually one per plot segment until Water Towers arrive.

Tips: Save deliberately; skipping from Sprinklers straight to Waterfall often beats Sprinkler spam. Chop during Full Moon after installation to feel payoff immediately.

Water Towers

Role: Mid-late backbone structure.

Behavior: Tall radius machines with strong passive fill — excels after plot expansion unlocks tiles.

Tips: Place centrally for coverage. Required stepping stone before Nuclear Fountain for most accounts.

Nuclear Fountain

Role: Late pre-prestige or first post-prestige power buy.

Behavior: Extreme water output with larger footprint and cost. Endgame fountain before Plasma in many loadouts.

Tips: Do not bankrupt prestige savings (~110M total community estimate across expansion, shrine, fee) for early Nuclear unless income truly supports rebuild.

Plasma

Role: Endgame water tier.

Behavior: Top shop throughput in current meta. Expensive, plot-hungry, crystal-synergistic after Void upgrades.

Tips: Buy after first prestige when crystals multiply rebuild speed.

Other / patch-added sources

Simple Bricks Trees may add seasonal fountains. Treat unknown machines using same criteria: coins per hour, tile cost, synergy with mutations. Watch Updates Hub.

Placement and plot expansion

Machines require valid tiles. Plot expansion purchases unlock perimeter space — commonly cited ~75M for final expansion before first prestige, subject to patches. Without space, even S-tier fountains cannot deploy.

Placement flow from Controls guide:

  1. Buy from shop
  2. Enter placement mode
  3. Confirm on valid tile
  4. Verify water particles hitting tree hitbox

Interaction with mutations and weather

Water ticks drive mutation rolls. Acid Rain rewards machine-heavy setups. Frost slows growth — compensate with higher tiers. Galactic windows deserve all fountains running simultaneously.

Multiplayer note

Machines are on your plot only. Neighbors cannot rearrange your layout.

Purchase mistakes

  • Six Auto Taps, zero Sprinklers
  • Nuclear Fountain before Water Tower coverage
  • Ignoring expansion while shop shows locked tiles
  • Using scripts instead of legitimate machines
FAQ

Frequently Asked Questions

Quick answers to the most common questions.

What is the first water machine to buy?

Auto Tap is the standard first automation purchase, followed by Sprinklers and eventually Waterfalls as coin income grows.

What is the best endgame water source?

Plasma currently tops throughput rankings for fully expanded plots, with Nuclear Fountain as the late-game stepping stone.

Do water machines work offline?

Automation continues while Roblox simulates your session; watering cans also refill offline. Exact idle rules may vary — verify after patches.

How does plot expansion affect machines?

Expansion unlocks tiles required to place larger fountains and the Prestige Shrine. It is mandatory before late machines and prestige.

Where are water sources ranked?

See the Water Sources tier list for S-through-F rankings by progression stage.

Can other players use my water machines?

No. Machines and plot progress belong to your individual account.
